With spring coming into full bloom, the grass is turning green again, and nature is coming more and more alive! It’s not only coming alive outside but has found its way inside as well.

Earthy Color Trends

Contemporary trends are focusing on simple tones with tons of texture. Traditional trends are using more substantial wood elements that resemble trees and bark. Bring nature indoors by incorporating hardwood floors, wooden-looking tiles, natural stone, and neutral paint colors.

You can see various examples of natural elements being incorporated in homes on Houzz. Search for new trends and ideas for your bathroom or kitchen remodel in Ames! Colorful Cabinetry

Dura Supreme, our main cabinetry line, won the Best of Houzz award five years straight. One of the reasons we love Dura Supreme is because they always stay on top of the latest trends. More true brown tones are coming into their wood finish lines (replacing red tones). Dura Supreme’s white cabinets (their most popular) are often combined in kitchens or bathrooms with wood-stained cabinets or nature-inspired flooring or wall colors that warm up the stark white. The popularity of white cabinets may be due to the fact that most people want their kitchen to light and bright, which brings me to my next point.

Let The Natural Light In

Windows are one of the easiest ways to incorporate nature into a space. Warm, bright, natural light can perk up any room. Having windows throughout your house may seem like a no brainer, but you can add more or larger windows or skylights to increase the amount of natural light in your home. Adding windows also allows you to look out at nature. If you aren’t able to incorporate more windows into your home, try installing lights and bulbs that brighten up your space.

Add Warm And Color With A Fireplace

Fireplaces are another great way to bring nature into your home. Often the focal point of a room, a fireplace creates warmth in multiple ways. Obviously, fire lets off heat, but the colors and natural elements on the fireplace surround can also give your home an outdoorsy, rustic, and warm feel. Stacked stone on the surround and hearth and a wooden mantelpiece are two common materials used on fireplaces. More contemporary units may have stone inside the fireplace itself instead of traditional logs.

Bringing nature inside is becoming more of a focus, sometimes without us even realizing it! Pantone’s color of the year is even nature-inspired—Greenery. This is clearly a trend that isn’t going away anytime soon. For remodeling or home improvement services in Story County, contact Cyclone Contracting.
